Tips
on Booking a Training Date
Booking
a training date can be a little tricky, so here are some things I have
found helpful to selecting a time that leads to a quality training
event.
- Start
planning at least two months in advance. My calendar
stays pretty full, but 60 days is usually enough time to get a time on
the calendar that can meet everyone's needs. (By the way, I am only
available for travel ten days each month - total. That's a standard,
not a guideline.) I do have associate trainers if I cannot meet your
needs in a timely way.
- Avoid
booking time close to a holiday. Travel and vacations
are common problems.
- Avoid
Mondays. It's tough to get everyone in first thing on
Monday morning.
- Allow
for my recuperation time. I must allow space in my
schedule to rest and recover between training engagements. Also, take
into consideration your own staff's schedule and projects to allow
adequate time to wind down from a heavy workload. I usually
like to allow 2 to 3 days to recover from previous engagements. This
means that I typically do not book two consecutive weeks of training.
